A Character in His Book

By Brooklen Borne

Some events may have happened in our lives that make us afraid or have us wondering why this shit is happening to us. Some of us may have been kicked off a horse and scared to get back on. Some of us may have been in a car accident and now afraid to get behind the wheel. No matter what it may be, we are too afraid to do or enjoy the good things we once did.

For me…it’s love. Everyone except for one, that I have opened my heart to unconditionally has betrayed me and used me for what they could, before discarding me like uneaten food into the trash. The people who have done this to me, I eventually found out had a different agenda.

We loved these unnamed people more than they loved us and their actions showed loud and clear as if it was a full moon illuminating the darkened sky. We have brought our sorrows to their attention countless of times, but they continued with their actions, sometimes even putting the blame on us. We’ve been hurt to the core by these unnamed people, but not spiritually.

On the day this letter was written, I came to terms that the simplest things in life that people take for granted, is an experience that I may never have the joy of knowing. The experience is a dream, a dream that could have been made into reality, only if unconditional love flowed both ways. Just imagine if we could reciprocate the same kind of love, affection, loyalty and dedication.

So like those, thrown from the horse or were in bad car accident’s; I’m also afraid. I’m afraid of my emotions to love another. Because each incident takes away a part of me and I’m slowly becoming numb.

The power of love will make a sick person well.

The power of love will give you strength, when you think you have none left in you.

The power of love will turn your cloudiest day, blue.

The power of love will also kill you, if you entrust your feelings to the wrong entity.

As we walk amongst millions in this numb state of mind, we can count on one that will always love us, never use us, play us for a fool or betray us and that’s God…God almighty. My heart is heavy and has been for a very long time, but God is the author of my life and my story has been written. I pray my story has a happy ending, for I’m just a character in his book, going through the challenges of life.
