For The Convenience
By Brooklen Borne
When you have a child, may it be biological, adoption or a care taker due to a family or a friend?s crisis; you are responsible for the welfare of that child. So why do some people just drop their kids off with someone to watch them when they want to go out, not knowing or caring if the sitter is child CPR qualified.
I asked a friend?s 16 year old daughter, ?Does she enjoy baby sitting her three little cousins?? They are 2, 5 and 7 respectfully. She said, ?I don?t mind. They?re not bad at all. Besides watching them gives me some spending money.? The next question I asked her was, ?If she knew CPR?? She responded, ?No!? I then came back with another question, ?What if something happens to one of them and they need CPR, what would you do?? She looked at me like a deer looking into head lights. What intrigued me more was even after the aforementioned was brought to her attention; she got on myspace and stayed on the site for about an hour. She wasn?t concerned enough to take a minute to research some information about child CPR on the net.
There?s nothing wrong with family and friends looking after your little one?s, while you have some ?me? time; just make sure the ones looking after your children have some sort of training?just in case an emergency arises.
