A DEDICATION
By Brooklen Borne
I stood before you naked with both hands slightly away from my sides, palms facing forward toward you. I could see the sorrow in your eyes when you looked at me. I had a frown upon my forehead and what should have been clear liquid coming from my eyes were replaced by tears of blood.
You reached out for me but drew your hands back each and every time you saw my body jerked. You walked around to my rear and noticed objects sticking me in my back. To your disbelief, you saw metal triangles daggers with words of “We have betrayed you.” “We have lied to you.” “We have used you,” and “We were disloyal to you; in your time of need.” The people I helped and trusted threw these worded objects into my back with expert precision.
For my protection you stood between me and the other daggers that were coming at me. You began to pull out the triangular objects, one by one from my back. The tears of blood that flowed from my eyes, slowly transformed back to clear liquid; before drying up. The scars on my back began to heal, leaving no reminisce of the worded triangle daggers. The frown that was a crown on my forehead disappeared as you relieved me of my pain. “You will no longer bare these burdens my child,” you said with a smile. That’s when I realized who you were. You took a hold of my hand and led me to safety. I couldn’t believe my surroundings, I was in paradise; heaven as you all know it; the view, spectacular. “Now you can rest in peace. The burdens you once had are no longer yours to carry, my son.” My new found true friend said to me. Then I heard another voice, it sounded like my little brother. His words were faint, but I could hear him clearly say, “I will miss you big brother and I look forward to seeing you again; when I get there.
