"Doctor, where am I and how long have I been here?" I asked still feeling groggy.
"You're at Washington Hospital Center and you've been unconscious for four days." He responded, as he checked my blood pressure.
"Where's my husband? Is he alright?" He looked at me and was about to answer, when the nurse entered the room; with two men wearing suits. The nurse placed a pitcher of water on the table; that was by my bed and said to the doctor,
"Doctor, these federal agents would like to talk to Mrs. Carrington." Both men flashed their credentials to the doctor. The taller of the two agents said,
"We need to ask Mrs. Carrington a few questions."
"I'll give you five minutes. She just came out of a coma and I need to run some more tests on her." The doctor informed them as he closed his clip board and departed the room.
"Do you know who shot you Mrs. Carrington?"
"Where is my husband?" I asked, feeling weak and getting frustrated.
"Could you answer the question, Mrs. Carrington
"I don't have a clue who shot me and my husband. All I know is my husband and I was about to fall asleep, when two figures dressed in black, stood in the doorway of our bedroom. My husband noticed them and confronted them verbally."
"Do you remember what your husband said to them?"
"He said. Who the fuck are you and what are you doing in my house? They didn't say anything back. They just opened fire on us."
"Ma'am, do you know if they were black, white, male or female?"
"I just told you. Whoever those people were, they was dressed in black from head to toe. The room was dark and their faces were covered. I couldn't give you a description, if you offered to pay me a million dollars. Look sir, right now, all I want to know, is what happened to my husband? Can you or somebody in this room, tell me, what happened to my husband?" I asked, as I sat up in the bed on my elbows. The taller of the two agents walked over to me and took a hold of my hand and said,
"Your husband is dead ma'am."
